Mental Health Monday: Rest IS Needed

My cross-post for this week, in case FB pulls the plug.

We live in a world that is making us tired, stressed, sleepless, and going without basic necessities and rights.

That IS a lot to hold on to and you need not do it alone.

We frequently hold the revolving-door open 24/7/365 on this ‘hamster’ wheel where rest means you’re lazy and grinding your gears means you’re doing it “right.”

“The mind is like water. When it’s turbulent, it’s difficult to see. When it’s calm, everything becomes clear.” -Prasad Mahes

Globally, the system is “broken,” but that is the system set up by the billionaires—the corrupt, so-called “elite,” aka the bourgeoisie, only instead of what WAS middle class, is now aimed to the select few holding the world’s wealth. To them, the system “works” as it should, and it is up to US to dismantle it

For far too long we have been yelling at the outside—the walls that crumble not to our words but by our very actions.

We must infiltrate, uproot and rebuild.

The only way to do that is by being united in solidarity, because doing this solo WILL have you in burnout and ill.

When was the last time you had a full rest?

Little to no rest causes cognitive decline, pair that with stress and you’ll make yourselves sick!

“Those we fight for don’t get to rest.”

We are NOT martyrs.

We are a TEAM; we do not leave anyone behind and we do NOT BULLY!

It is our collective voices in numbers that is needed in these times.

Use yourself up and that’s one less voice.

Our strength is in our numbers and if that means taking nature’s stance and applying the penguin “huddle” to allow for mental and phsycial health resets, then that IS what is needed for us to keep up the momentum.

Activism comes in all forms and you may be used to spearheading the line, but now may be your time to rest and sift through logistics. Perhaps it’s your time to #MakeArtNotWar.

Whatever you need in this season, do not feel shame or guilt for rest and do not make other activists feel shame or guilt for taking a different path to you.

The journey we are on is essentially the same, but the paths we take will look different.

Remember…Rest is resistance. Take this Monday to rest in between your busy schedules.

If you don’t have 5 minutes, you take 15.

Pause, drop your shoulders, unclench your jaw, stretch your arms out and breathe~

Regroup your thoughts, rest, call and check in on a friend, take a walk in nature and remind yourself of what we truly are fighting for and who the real enemies are—don’t let it be your health or one another. 🙏

We LOVE you and we CARE for you.

Your voices DO matter.

Everyone is Welcome and Everyone IS Needed.

Every one. Every age. Every faith. Every soul.
